Santa's Address in Lapland: Santa Claus Main Post Office

Santa's postal address, how to write to him and the Arctic Circle postmark: Santa Claus' Main Post Office in Rovaniemi, open every day of the year.

Write a card here and it leaves with the Arctic Circle postmark.

Send a card from here and it leaves with a postmark you cannot get anywhere else.

It is a real, working post office. Stamps, parcels, forms, the lot. It is just that this one sits on the Arctic Circle and the people behind the counter are Postal Elves.

You sit down at a table, write your card, and hand it over. Every piece of post that leaves this building is stamped with the special Arctic Circle postmark.

Because the letters were arriving anyway. Around half a million of them every year, from children and adults all over the world, addressed to Santa Claus. Mail like that has to land somewhere, and someone has to answer it.

So Santa got his own post office at the Arctic Circle: one address, one postmark, one place where all of that mail belongs.

See the red post box? Anything you drop in there is kept safe and posted so it arrives at Christmas. Post a card in July and it will wait for you until then.

There is a mailbox outside the door too, and post from it gets the Arctic Circle postmark as well.

You can order a Santa Claus Letter, which Santa sends himself before Christmas.

Hours change with the season. From 1 September to 30 October 2026 the office is open daily 10.00 to 17.00, from 1 to 30 November daily 10.00 to 19.00, and from 1 December 2026 to 6 January 2027 daily 9.00 to 20.00 (official page, checked 23 September 2026).

It stands in the middle of the village at Tähtikuja 1, about 8 km north of Rovaniemi city centre.

Write it on the envelope like this. From abroad, an ordinary international letter stamp from your own country is enough.
